Ranjini and Anand are a San Francisco bay area couple who share a passion for music. Ranjini started her carnatic classical training when she was just seven years old. Since then she has trained under accomplished musicians like Vasumathi, Kanakalakshmi and Sukanya Prabhakar.
After coming to USA, Ranjini and Anand received training from Lalitha Venkataraman and attended Ali Akbar college of music where they learnt hindustani classical from Nachiketha Sharma. They are currently students of 'Kalaniketan School of Indian Music and Dance' where they are under the tutelage of Preetha Sheshadri. In the last few years they have also been performing in light music concerts with various bay area music bands. They have travelled coast to coast and performed at major events in Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, Sacramento and San Franscisco bay area.
Further, they have worked with renowned violinist and composer H.N.Bhaskar in a bilingual music album 'Deva Re, Ab Jhoomenge Mast!' (in Hindi) and 'Hosa Baalu' (in Kannada). Listen to the promos of this album here
In Nov 2005, they recieved an award from KKNC (Kannada Koota of Northern California) in recognition of their Kannada music album 'Hosa Baalu'. Click here to see some pics from the award night.
